A Whitchurch business is celebrating after winning a string of new orders for major companies in the food industry.

Landia, a pump manufacturer, has received new orders from food companies in the North, Midlands, and South West of England for its Chopper Pumps, used in wastewater treatment applications.

In the north, two of Landia's 7.5kW Chopper Pumps will be installed by a family business specialising in authentic Halal food, significantly reducing the size of solids in end-of-process tanks.

At a multi-million-pound business in the Midlands, specialising in prepared main-meal foods and plant-based industries, the company is replacing earlier pumps with four of Landia's 18.5kW Chopper Pumps.

The switch aimed to prevent downtime caused by blockages.

Whitchurch Herald: The Chopper Pump was invented by Landia in 1950.

Yet another feather in Landia’s cap is a leading supplier of desserts in the South West which has ordered two new 5.5kW Chopper pumps, which are not just efficient in handling solids but also extremely energy efficient.

Howard Burton, technical sales, Landia UK, said: "Demand for our proven Chopper Pump, which was invented by Landia in 1950, remains as strong as ever, because it is a long-lasting, no-nonsense piece of simple yet highly effective engineering that gets on with the job.

"We’ve seen strong interest of late from the food industry, where total cost of ownership is more important than ever."

Aside from these successes, Landia also completed installations for Deeside Cereals and Timothy Taylor’s brewery, while Landia's AirJet system played a significant role in both companies' aeration processes.
