A MAJOR stretch of the A41 south of Whitchurch will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am on Wednesday night for emergency repairs.
The road will be closed between the Truck Stop roundabout and the Heath Road to Prees Road roundabout, one of the main entrances to the town.
The closure was confirmed by Shropshire Council with a spokesman confirming that a diversion will be in place.

They said: “During the closure, a signed A-road status diversion will be place.
“Depending on their vehicle type people may be able to choose their own shorter diversion route.
“Access/egress for properties and businesses within the closure will be maintained when safe to do so.

“Staff on site will be able to assist with access.
“During the work, access to the works area will be restricted to essential highway personnel; residents who live and reside within the road closure; businesses located within the closure (if applicable); pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians and emergency vehicles.
“Utility or public service vehicles when safe to do so will also be allowed.”
