The Internationally acclaimed theatre company British Touring Shakespeare is coming to the Soulton Hall in Shropshire.

The theatre troupe is set to perform two new plays, 'The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde’ and 'Thirteenth Night: Malvolio’s Revenge’ in June.

Artistic director of British Touring Shakespeare, Andrew Hobbs, said: "We are thrilled to bring these two brilliant shows to the enchanting surroundings of Soulton Hall.

"Our new adaptation of 'The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde' promises a chilling and suspenseful experience, while ‘Thirteenth Night: Malvolio’s Revenge’ brings laughter and comedy to the stage.

"We look forward to sharing these captivating stories with our Shropshire audience."

The award-winning historian and writer David Hobbs MBE, who co-adapted 'The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde,’ spoke very highly of the project.

He said: "We greatly enjoyed bringing Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale to life.

"Our adaptation aims to immerse audiences in the chilling atmosphere of Victorian horror, and the historic setting of Soulton Hall will enhance the experience for theatregoers."

Megan Carter, who plays Viola in 'Thirteenth Night: Malvolio’s Revenge,’ is looking forward to the performances.

She said: "Performing at Soulton Hall is a privilege.

"Audiences can expect a weekend of suspense, laughter, and unforgettable entertainment."

Tom Thornhill, a Shropshire-born actor and long-time member of the theatre company, said: "Performing with British Touring Shakespeare is always a remarkable experience, and I'm particularly excited to bring our productions to my home county of Shropshire this summer.

"Soulton Hall's beautiful and historic setting provides the perfect backdrop for the gripping narrative of ‘The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde’ and the comedic twists of ‘Thirteenth Night: Malvolio’s Revenge.’ I can't wait to share these brilliant stories with the audience in such a special location."

In 2020, they were the first theatre company to host live performances during the recovery from the pandemic.

‘The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde’ will be performed at Soulton Hall on Sunday, June 30, whereas 'Thirteenth Night: Malvolio’s Revenge’ will be performed the day before, on Saturday, June 29.
