MORE THAN £1,200 was raised by the Whitchurch branch of the League of Friends to the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt hospital at a summer event.

The group raised the funds at a recent Summer Coffee Morning held at Gredington Hall in Hanmer by kind permission of Lady Kenyon.

Angela Witter, Whitchurch Branch Chairman, said they were blown away by the turnout on what was a wet and windy day and thanked everyone for taking part.

OTHER NEWS:

She said: “Committee members braced themselves for a wet morning as they set up stalls and tables.

“An overwhelming number of supporters turned out to enjoy coffee and biscuits and find the perfect plant for their garden from the well-stocked stall.

“Visitors were able to buy home-made treats from the cake stall and handmade greeting cards in the shelter of undercover stables and a gazebo.

“The storm blew over and the sun shone.

“Delighted guests were able to experience a rare treat to walk the charming 16-acre garden.

“The beautiful grounds include national collections of viburnum and Sarcococca and many unusual trees and shrubs including an extensive collection of oak trees.

“Thank you to everyone who turned out to support us.

“We extend sincere thanks to Lady Kenyon for allowing us to hold our summer event at Gredington and to our committee for making it such a success.”
