Wem's beloved 'Vehicles of Interest' rally and parade will be back on the road next weekend.

On Sunday July 21, visitors can look forward to all of the annual event's established popular features including a Grand Parade around the town centre, hundreds of interesting vehicles, trade stands, food stalls, and live music.

A helicopter fly-in from RAF Shawbury is also planned, while a beer tent, a world record breaking ice cream van, a children’s fairground and a raffle will also be among the attractions.

The coveted Castle Hotel tankard for the overall most interesting vehicle will be presented, along with a host of other trophies for military, agricultural, commercial vehicles plus motorbikes and three-wheelers. Entry is free.

The Parade will follow its traditional route - the reverse of Wem Carnival - and Shropshire Highways has given permission for temporary road closures on the  route.

The roads which are affected are High Street, Aston Street, Station Road, Summerfield Road, Whitchurch Road, Pyms Road, Lowe Hill Road, New Street, Park Road.

Closures will be at different times for short durations while the parade passes and marshals will be positioned throughout route to provide assistance and direction as required.

And if all that’s not enough the organisers have synchronised their diaries with Wem’s Sweet Pea Festival and they’re in town over the same weekend.
