FIREFIGHTERS were called to a major north Shropshire road on Wednesday morning after a van’s overheated engine required action.
One Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crew from Wem was sent to a section of the A49 at Preston Brockhurst – close to the town – at around 8.15am.
A SFRS spokesman confirmed that firefighters were required to take action at the scene.

They said: “Crews used a hosereel jet and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the fire.
“The incident involved one van that has overheated and crews used a hosereel jet to cool the engine.”
A stop message was sent to SFRS control at around 20 minutes later confirming no further support was needed.
