A GP SURGERY that serves both Whitchurch and Ellesmere has announced that its two practices are affected by the global IT outage.

Churchmere Medical Group, which operates Bridgewater Street Surgery in Whitchurch and Churchmere in Ellesmere, says it is has been hit by the outage.

A spokesman for the group urged patience for the systems to restart and those with appointments to still attend.

They said: “Unfortunately we have a IT issue this morning (due to the global Microsoft issue) and do not have access to patient records.

“This seems to be a third party IT issue which is affecting all GP practices.

“We will be unable to book any appointments until it is resolved.

“If you have an appointment already booked please still attend the surgery and we will do our best to help you.

“We will provide regular updates.

“We do apologise for the inconvenience caused but this is out of our control.”

The spokesman added: “Further to this we are unable to dispense routine medication at the practice in Ellesmere.

“If you had a text to say your medication is ready then you can collect. Again, we do apologise for this.”

A spokesman for Wem Medical Centre also posted to say it was affected.

They said: “We are experiencing technical difficulties this morning, this is a national problem.

“We currently cannot view any patient information, if you need urgent medical attention please call 111.”
