A WOMAN convicted of defrauding her former boss will face a court hearing to see how much money she will have to repay for her criminal activity.

Tracie Brookes, of Mill Street in Prees, stole £30,934.70 from Prees Heath Forest Nursery between October 2015 and May 2018.

In February this year, she was spared a custodial sentence at Shrewsbury Crown Court by Judge Laura Hobson.

Brookes was given an 21-month sentence which was suspended for 18 months.

She admitted moving money from business accounts at the nursery belonging to David Gwillam – who said he had been "denied justice".

At Shrewsbury Crown Court on Thursday, July 25, Judge Peter Barrie set a date of Friday, November 29 for a half-day proceeds of crime act (POCA) hearing to assess how much Brookes will have to repay to her victim.

A timetable was set out with Brookes’ defence issuing a Section 17 challenge to the prosecution claims about how much should be repaid, which will be sent by mid-August.

The prosecution will then be given until mid-September to respond to that challenge and then both sides, according to Judge Barrie, will then have "sufficient time for conversations for the real issues (of the case)".
