A FIELD of straw on fire at a farm outside Whitchurch received a strong response from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
Crews from Whitchurch, Wem and Market Drayton were called to Fir Tree Farm around at 5.55pm on Sunday after reports of a hay bale fire.
An operations officer and the incident support unit were also sent to the scene.

A spokesman for SFRS confirmed that the field, measuring 200 square metres, was on fire.

They said: “Crews used a hosereel jet to tackle the fire.
“ A field of hay on fire, measuring approximately 200 square metres.
“Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish fire. Assistance given by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.”
A stop message was sent to SFRS control at around 6.25pm confirming no further support was required.
