A SERIES of 'excellent' results have left staff and pupils at Wem’s Thomas Adams School 'delighted', according to its headteacher.

Mark Cooper, headteacher at the Lowe Hill Road school in Wem, was present as Year 11 pupils picked up their results on Thursday and has praised the efforts of staff and students on a 'pleasing' set of GCSE results.

Mr Cooper said the results also reflect the hard work by pupils who were the first cohort to start in the Covid-19 impacted era of education.

He said: “Everyone has worked incredibly hard again this year and the achievements of our young people are a credit to them and their efforts.”

“In addition, a good number of students have made progress above national expected levels throughout their time at Thomas Adams School and we are also immensely proud of those students who have overcome personal difficulties in order to achieve their best.

“I would like to put on record my thanks to all students, staff and parents, for what was an exemplary team effort during what has been a challenging few years.

“Many of these Thomas Adams students are now joining others from across north Shropshire, and from further afield, in moving on to take A-levels at The Thomas Adams Sixth Form.

“I am sure we will enjoy further success with them in two years’ time.”

Top results at the school included Oliver Camber with 9s and four 8s and is planning to pursue a career as an aeronautical engineer after receiving a scholarship for Shrewsbury School.
