A WHITCHURCH beauty salon owner says she was ‘shocked and delighted’ to have been named one of the best in her field at a major awards.

Emma Scott owns her own aesthetics company based in Hanmer, between Whitchurch and Wrexham, and recently picked up second place in her category at The Leading Aesthetics Awards in Wembley, London.

Emma admitted that while she was delighted to be selected as a finalist, she was shocked at picking up second place but insisted it was the result of hard work.

She said: “I am thrilled to have been recognised at such a prestigious event.

“It’s an honour to represent the local area and to be acknowledged among the best in the industry.”

She added: “I got selected as a finalist from a larger number and I went to the event which was at The Drum, near Wembley.

“No-one who was going to win until the evening and I came second in my category.

“I was really shocked because I wasn’t expecting it but I’m so proud of it because I’ve spent the last few years building my business up.

“I’ve got the best clients and I love what I do – it was the icing on the cake, I loved it and it was a great evening as well.

“I opened in 2019 which wasn’t great because a few months later we went into lockdown so I couldn’t trade.

“But since I was able to open again, the business has just been growing and growing through word of mouth and now I’m really busy with clients.

“That’s something I’m really grateful for because it is still a cost of living crisis and it’s nice I’m still busy.”

Emma attended the celebration with her husband Jonathan and said that the award was justification for taking the plunge in starting her own business.

She said: “The celebration and the award just solidifies everything I’ve been doing because you can doubt yourself so it’s nice to get that recognition.

“The judges were anonymous – they were all people who are leaders in the industry so to receive this was just amazing.

“It’s so nice to get that confirmation.”
