A CHESHIRE veterinary practice is inviting people to see first-hand how it cares for pets with a peek behind the scenes as part of its 85th-anniversary celebrations.

Hampton Veterinary Centre is throwing open the doors to its practice in Post Office Lane, Malpas, on Saturday, September 14 to mark the milestone.

Practice manager Lisa Regan said the day will be a celebration of the business and hopes to see plenty of people attend.

She said: “We are very proud of our practice and our dedicated team, who provide the highest standards of care to local pets.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces, including current clients as well as other pet owners who may just want to have a look around to find out more about us and the care we provide.

“We completely understand how important people’s pets are to them and we hope that people get some peace of mind from seeing our first-rate facilities and being able to get a better understanding of what we can do should their pets ever need treatment.”

Attractions will include a dog show, food, stalls, bouncy castle, raffle, hands-on learning as well as practice tours to see the facilities first hand.

These include four consult rooms, one operating theatre, a dedicated X-ray room, in-house laboratories, imaging equipment such as digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, and dental equipment.

There will also be an opportunity to meet some of the veterinary team and find out more about the pet healthcare services it offers.

To ensure the celebrations are a sweet success, visitors are encouraged to enter a ‘Bake-Off’ cake competition with adult and children’s categories for Best Sponge Cake and Best Animal-themed Decorated Cupcake.

A final category of best decorated biscuit can be completed on the day with materials supplied by the practice.

All proceeds from the open day, which is from 10am until 2pm, will go to the charity StreetVet, which provides free essential care to pets of people experiencing homelessness.

Founded in 1939 by Bobby O’Neil at Holly House on Malpas High Street, Hampton Vets was originally a mixed practice and moved to its current premises in 1976.

The team is also led by clinical director Nikki Singleton, head nurse Helen Kidd and head receptionist, Holly Goodwin.

A special mention has to be made for Helen Peel as Hampton Vets’ longest-serving colleague. Helen has clocked up 25 years at the practice, initially as a nurse before joining the reception team.
