A SEA SHANTY band that has played the Glastonbury and WOMAD festivals will be the headline act for the evening of Blackberry Fair.
The Old Time Sailors will be the main draw for the ‘after dark’ Pookas Polka Part from 7pm on Saturday, October 5, after the day of celebrations at Whitchurch’s popular autumn festival.
A spokesman for BlackBerry Fair called the celebrations ‘rum, lash and dancing for the planet like you’ve never seen before’ and the band will be supported by the brilliant Lark Trainer plus DJs.

They added: “This is just part of Whitchurch’s raucous Annual Autumn Day, where the High Street is awash with colour, chaos, composting and Gypsy Jazz.
“Like it? Well you won’t go far wrong with the seasonal delights of what Whitchurch Blackberry Fair has to offer on Saturday, October 5 from 10am-6pm.
“Neither an elaborate Market Day nor a town carnival, it’s an experience where the only ground rule is ‘you bring a big smile with you’.
“Out for its 16th year with five stages gracing the town’s High Street, there’ll be rhythms to suit everyone, bringing the party to life.
“All of it infilled with a street long Bramble Market, the wonder of Chinese Lions Dancers, Rimski’s Yard travelling Street Piano and Double Bass plus the sounds of Samba and Morris filling every corner, Pop Up Theatre, wacky Mummers, plus the infamous Old Stinker Cheese Race.
“It’s mad fun, the steam punks, pirates and faeries make sure of that.
“Among all this revelry is the heart of the day, celebrating stories of inspirational people who are all going that extra mile to make our lives and the planet more sustainable.
“Wrap all of it up in a barrel of fun that starts with that smile and those important messages shared are far more likely to be remembered and take root in our lives.
“It’s not rocket science folks, it’s essential.
“Whether it’s pushing an Old Brass Bed along the Street handing out apples, or dancing with Faeries, Whitchurch Blackberry Fair will send you home with a bag full of memories and the knowledge that there’s still loads of things in life to feel genuinely positive about.”
