LIFEGUARDS at Whitchurch’s Alderford Lake have been praised for their quick actions after a woman got into difficulty through injury over the weekend.

Emergency services including Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) attended the lake, off the A41, in the early afternoon.

According to staff at the lake, a woman who had been paddle boarding on the water at the attraction had been left injured but was taken to safety by lifeguards before paramedics showed up to take over her treatment.

A spokesman said: “The casualty involved was a lady who had dislocated her knee while in the lake.

“Alderford’s lifeguards acted swiftly, performing a water rescue and ensuring her safety.

“When the fire service arrived, they assisted the lifeguards in helping the lady onto land.

“Fortunately, when the ambulance arrived, the paramedics were able to treat her on-site, and she was stable enough to walk off the ambulance without needing to go to the hospital at that time.”

A spokesman for WMAS confirmed that paramedics attended the scene but no further treatment after on-site was required and she was discharged.

They said: “We were called at 2.15pm on Sunday to a patient who had become injured at Alderford Lake.
