A charity shop in Shropshire needs more volunteers to help it reach its first million.

Headway Whitchurch raises funds for the UK-wide charity which supports people with brain injuries and their families.

The shop's new manager, Maddie Stafford, said more volunteers are "urgently needed" to help the shop continue its success.

She said: "The shop is very busy, and this is a really exciting time to join us.

"We are on track to raise our first million by the end of this year, so we urgently need more kind people to join our much-valued team.

"We particularly need people who can volunteer for a few hours on weekends, but we have spaces during the week, so we can always find room to welcome willing volunteers."

Headway supports people with brain injuries and their families by providing support, advocacy, and information services.

Each year, around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury.

They can be sustained in several ways, including through strokes, brain tumours, and accidents.

Ms Stafford said: "We are a very supportive and friendly team.

"Volunteering with us is a chance to meet new people and learn new skills while helping people rebuild their lives after brain injury.

"We've had people volunteer with us who were unemployed and, through their time with us, they have gone on to find paid employment.

"We'd also be happy to support young people looking to volunteer as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

"No experience is necessary, and we would be pleased to give volunteers training and support."

She added: "The money raised from sales in our charity shops goes a long way towards ensuring vital support is there for those affected by brain injury.

"Please join us at our Whitchurch charity shop and become an important part of helping Headway to improve life after brain injury."
