THE high winds of Storm Ashley snapped a power cable outside Ellesmere and left it ‘arcing’ in the field it was in.

One crew of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) firefighters from Ellesmere was sent to Chapel Lane, between the town and Dudleston heath at around 6pm on Sunday.

The winds brought down a tree which in turn snapped the power cable that was left ‘popping or cracking’ as the path of electrical current was disturbed because of the break in the cable.
