A CAR colliding with an electricity pole and leaving it across the road prompted the call-out of Shropshire firefighters on Thursday night.
One Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crew from Prees was sent to Coton, in between Wem and Whitchurch, at around 10.30pm after reports of the incident.
A SFRS spokesman confirmed that firefighters were on scene to ensure it was safe until the arrival of the relevant electricity company.

They said: “One live electricity pole was across the carriageway following a collision with a car.
“Our fire crew remained on scene until the arrival of the electricity company who removed the pole from roadway and isolated cable.”
A stop message was sent to SFRS control at around 11.20pm to confirm no further support was required.
