Mrs Coles also paid tribute to the pupils at the school whose participation in sport has led to it being given the award.

She said: “You can only apply for the Platinum School Games Mark after gaining five Gold School Games Marks.

“The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of sport and competitions across their school and into the community.

“We are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

“We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young sports leaders, Thomas Adams School in Wem, School Games and the officials who made our competitions possible.”

Mrs Coles explained how the mark was given and said it was down to evidencing how the pupils at the primary school take part in sport.

She added: “As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs.

“And also to write a case study to demonstrate how we have embedded positive experiences of competition into your offer and how this has made a difference to your uptake.

“We have seen a huge uptake of children playing sport especially outside of school.

“We are giving the children the opportunity to experience inter house sports and a chance to participate in school sports.

“We are so pleased that the hard work of all the children at our school has been rewarded this year.”
