A Cheshire nursing home has appointed a new general manager.
Corbrook Park, a 76-bed nursing home in Audlem, has appointed Sophie Kay as general manager.
Ms Kay, who is a registered nurse, has 17 years’ experience working within the health and care sector in a variety of roles including as an A&E trauma nurse and care home manager.
Ms Kay is passionate about caring for the older generation and has said her role in caring for the elderly is ‘a privilege.’
She brings to the role a good understanding of Corbrook Park as she has been promoted to general manager from clinical deputy manager at the home.
Her focus is making sure the home continues to deliver high standards of care and her plans include a targeted refurbishment programme.
Ms Kay began her career in care as a nurse in a care home.
After that, she spent 12 years working as a trauma nurse in A&E departments in hospitals across the North West.
She then returned to work as a nurse in a GP practice in Cheshire.
Ms Kay later joined the commissioning team at NHS Cheshire and Merseyside as the nurse lead working across 79 practices in the area.
As part of her role, Ms Kay created a Florence Nightingale app, a platform that helped her communicate with nurses in GP practices across the region.
At Corbrook Park, Ms Kay is now overseeing a team of more than 80 people and has begun the home’s refurbishment programme.
