PLANS for 70 homes on land outside a Whitchurch village have been met with serious opposition on Shropshire Council’s planning portal.
Comments have been loaded onto the application for the houses in Tilstock Road that was submitted to the authority on October 31 this year.
Since it was submitted, a community group against the plans was established and a coordinated effort to lodge opposition to the development.

Jessica Collins said: “The quantity of housing Boningale is proposing is absurd, 70 dwellings!
“All of the other estates have been considerably smaller in order to respect the residents and characteristics of our village.
“This amount of housing will ruin our small rural village. Tilstock is already at risk of over-over development.
“Tilstock already floods in several locations, one of which is particularly close to the location of the site.
“Increasing housing further will only make situations worse for everyone. We are not in any need of anymore housing.”
Iain Davie added: “My objection is a the development is on a busy road.
“There is flooding in the village and the main drains as well as sewage cannot cope with the current housing.
“This new estate will almost double the size of the village and the current primary school is already full.
“We have lived in Tilstock for two years and still not been able to get a NHS dentist.”
Kevin Williams added: “Tilstock is a village which has had new homes built over the last few years.
“Tilstock had three allocated sites in the SAMDev for a total of 50 houses. These have all been recently completed. If a further 70 houses were to be added, Tilstock will have grown by 70 per cent.
“Tilstock has fulfilled its housing obligations under the SAMDev plan.”
Neil Hughes, who i9s among the lead objectors to the development, added: “Seventy homes will increase the size of the village by over 28 per cent.
“Without any new infrastructure this is not practical. The school is already oversubscribed, doctors’ appointments are difficult and there is a total lack of dentists in the area.

The water runoff from 70 new homes in terms of rain water and sewage cannot be accommodated within the existing sewage system.
“Recently we have had flooded roads, which is fairly common, in Tilstock Lane, Tilstock Road and Hollins Lane which rendered them impassable.”
