WHITCHURCH Town Council said it has no plans to cancel Saturday’s Christmas Lights switch-on despite arrival of Storm Bert.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for most of the UK by the Met Office for heavy rains, mixed with high winds and some snow.
With the Christmas lights switch-on set for Saturday afternoon, the council has confirmed the event will go ahead as planned.

They said: “Just to be clear, there are currently no plans to amend arrangements or cancel the Christmas Lights switch-on in Whitchurch this Saturday.
“Event health and safety will be considered on both Friday evening and early on Saturday morning, based on forecast data and the weather conditions at the time.”
The lights will be switched on at 5pm with the as-yet-unnamed Citizen of the Year performing the duties, with the 2024 winner to be announced prior to the turn-on.
