A WHITCHURCH caravan park is applying for a certificate making four of its units used for full-time residents a legal dwelling.
The plans for Grindley Brook Park Mobile Home Park, in Grindley Brook, close to the border with Cheshire, were submitted to Shropshire Council last week.
A planning statement, issued on behalf of the park by agents Savills, set out that residents have been living there for a decade as their full-time residency.

It said: “The application seeks the grant of a Lawful Development Certificate (LDC) under Section 191 (existing use or operation) to retain four caravans which are used for full-time residential purposes at Grindley Brook Park.”
It added: “Grindley Brook Park is a mixed use holiday and residential static caravan park.
“It occupies a sustainable location approximately 240m from the settlement boundary of Grindley Brook and 900m from the boundary of Whitchurch.
“The park was historically granted permission as a mixed site around 2003, which allowed for a re-layout of the site, at the time comprising seven residential caravans, four holiday caravans and five touring caravan pitches.
“The five touring caravans were subsequently exchanged for four static holiday caravans under planning permission NS/03/01118/FUL dated June 30, 2004.
“Over the years, and prior to the acquisition of the site by the applicant (Laird Estates Group Holdings Limited) in 2023, a number of the holiday homes had become occupied on a full-time residential basis.

“Accordingly, our client now seeks to regularise these changes of use which have taken place for at least 10 years prior to the date of this application.”
Statements from the residents – Edith Nelson, Jean Crisp, Pauline Hopkins and Robert Parry – all provided statutory declarations or signed statements for the application plus other statements from people involved with the park.
A decision as to whether a lawful certificate would be issued is expected to be given by Shropshire Council on Tuesday, January 7 2025.
