A YOUNG Whitchurch teenage golfer has had more success at another tournament.

Lauren Crump, 13, won the May Ladies Medal Competition which took place in MacDonald Hill Valley Golf Club in May and broke the ladies' course' record in the process.

Lauren is being coached by Robert Ashbrook and England Golf and also won the Liz Pook Trophy in the R&A Girls' Championships in early May, and Robert said he is pleased with her achievement.

He said: "She broke the lady's course record. To break the course record at that age is quite something."

He continued: "I am very proud of what she is doing, she is having the most fantastic season," he said.

"She is playing in the Ladies' County Championship.

"She is going to have a fantastic year and a fantastic future.

"She is so dedicated and focused on what she is doing. I can only see her having more success as she is so fixated on it.

"She pushes herself."

Lauren started playing golf shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic and will be playing in more upcoming tournaments.

Rob said: "She has been a member of Hill Valley since she started with me which was the year before Covid-19.

"She started from scratch.

"She has got the County Championships and then the English Girls in Shifnal.

"She has got to be one of the favourites going into that."
