WHITCHURCH golfer Lauren Crump just missed out on the 2024 English U16s Championship following a play-off defeat at the hands of Guia Vittoria Acutis this week
Defeat at Tandridge represented Crump's second championship heartache in a week.
Despite there being 36 holes scheduled for the final day, storms predicted for the afternoon forced tournament organisers to reduce it to 18, with Acutis shooting -2 (71) and Crump making 72 (-1) to leave them tied in first place.

Having both finished on -4 across their 54 holes, the pair headed down the 10th for the 1st play-off hole, where Acutis’ approach hit the green, while Crump was just off, and the Hill Valley golfer was unable to get up and down as the Italian’s par secured victory.
Crump, who won the English Girls' Championship last week, was tied for the lead heading into the final day alongside Eva Myers from Chesterfield but the latter slipped away for glory.
