Whitchurch Alport's recent unbeaten run was brought to a halt on Saturday afternoon with a narrow 3-2 away defeat to Midlands Premier League leaders Lichfield City.
Buoyed by successive cup wins in the previous week with progression in both the FA Vase and Midland League Cup, Alport went into the game full of confidence.
Jamie Elkes and Danny Lomas struck for the hosts while goals from Callum Knowles and Harry Bower twice brought Alport level before Jack Edwards struck the winner with 15 minutes remaining.
Roman Allen and Adam Hailes will now bid to make the most of a free weekend and nurse their way back to fitness for the visit of Romulus on November 30.

Harvey James and Elliot Jukes goals were not enough as Whitchurch 1946 fell to a 4-2 defeat at Dawley Town in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League while two goals from Ross Jones and efforts from George Lees and James Bennett-Tindall ensured the points for the hosts.
Wem Town toasted a 2-1 derby win at home to Ellesmere Rangers with Ollie Dunn and James Haley goals cancelling Jordan Evans' opener.
Liam Hanson and Dan Parker netted doubles as Prees United completed a 4-0 win at home to St Martins in division one while goals from Alex Mashlab and Kellan Sims proved consolation in Wem Town Colts' 7-2 defeat at Llanymynech.
Katelyn Tilston and Rebecca Roberts goals earned Ellesmere Rangers a 2-1 win at Bridgnorth Spartans in the Shropshire Women's Super League while Emma Watton replied.
Chloe Johnson struck as Prees United lost 3-1 to Meresiders who prevailed with goals from Hannah Moule, Sophie Richards and Zoe Adams.
A Mia Washington hat-trick and two goals from Eleanor Hill and an Ebony Cooper strike helped Whitchurch Alport to a 6-1 win at home to Albrighton in the Staffordshire Women's Premier League.
