WHITCHURCH Rugby Club will be gunning for promotion when the wait is over and the Midlands One West season gets underway.
The Edgeley Park club have begun their preparations for their season opener at Kenilworth on September 4.
The club enjoyed a solid end to last season with a 26-24 win over Stourbridge Lions, a 50-17 win over Sutton Coldfield and 32-5 victory over Market Drayton.

The club's colts have also returned for pre-season and celebrated a 41-17 win over Newcastle this month.
Danny Nicholas will captain the senior side next season with Joe Mullock and Jack Furnival his vice captains with the club targeting promotion.
Bryan Torksyji will be skippering the second string which will compete NOWIRUL Division Three South with the aim of a mid-table finish and will be supported by vice captain Darren Blackhurst.

Jack Ramsay will wear the armband for the colts with Ben Mason his vice captain.
The club is back in training every Thursday from 7-8.30pm for seniors and 7-8.30pm every Tuesday for the colts.
The Shropshire club is relishing a return to action following lockdown restrictions.
Since their founding in 1936 the club has been a focal point for the community and moved to Edgeley Park in 1970 with a clubhouse erected in 1974.

By the 1980s Whitchurch established themselves as the leading Shropshire rugby union club, winning nine from 11 county cups and becoming the first Shropshire club to secure the North Midlands Cup in 1997 and again in 1999.
Investment in facilities in 2004, with the opening of a new stand, ensured that the club maintained their position as one of the leading sporting clubs in the area.
Every week four full size pitches accommodate four senior men’s sides, a ladies team, an under 19’s and under 17’s side as well as a host of mini and junior teams.
